Care & Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance of your wood floors is key to keeping them beautiful.

  • Use a broom or a vacuum with a soft-bristled floor attachment
  • Clean wood floors with a product specifically made for wood floors – do not use sheet vinyl or tile floor care products. They can damage your floor over time
  • Never use any wax products on your floor as a build-up will occur causing your floors to look dull

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Do not use a wet-mop
  • Wipe up spills immediately. Leaving a spilled liquid of any kind will likely damage the wood and may leave the floor discoloured
  • Use an area rug in front of the sink in your kitchen and at all entrances of your home

Floor Damage

  • Keep animal nails trimmed to minimize scratches
  • Don’t walk on your floors in high heels or sport shoes such as cleats
  • When moving heavy furniture including appliances, use a minimum of ¼“ plywood or masonite underneath to slide it on. Picking the furniture up and gently placing it is the best way to protect your new floor

  • Wood flooring should be kept at a relative humidity of approximately 45-55%
  • Use a humidifier in the winter months and air conditioner or de-humidifier in the summer months
